Newton Rowland

Mr. Rowland began his teaching career in McMinnville, Tennessee (his home town). He taught chemistry, physics and computer programming. He taught school in McMinnville for 10 years. In 1980, Mr. Rowland left teaching and started Rotec Computer Company. His company had customers all of the United States, Canada and Australia. In 1997, Mr. Rowland sold his computer company and returned to teaching. He has been in Metro for the past 9 years. He  taught for seven years at Stratford High School and taught at Cohn Adult High School for the past two years. Since returning to teaching Mr. Rowland has received or renewed his certifications in the following areas: Chemistry, Biology. Ecology, Physical Science, Work Base Learning, all CTE IT/Networking and web design courses. Since returning to teaching he has been an assistant  football, wrestling  coach and was the head baseball coach at Stratford  In 1997 Mr. Rowland received the Cisco Teacher of the Decade for the state of Tennessee
