Romie
Reed was born and raised in Nashville, TN. He was an
honors graduate from Stratford High School in 1994,
and received a full football scholarship to attend
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. While at
UTC, Mr. Reed was a starter on the football team for
his junior and senior years and also became a two
sport athlete upon joining the conference champion,
sweet sixteen tournament participant men’s
basketball team his junior year. Mr. Reed graduated
from UTC in the fall of 1999 and returned to
Nashville to pursue a career in the education field.
Upon his return to Nashville,
Mr. Reed took over an algebra I class at Stratford
High School in the spring of 2000 as a full time sub
for a teacher who was not returning. After that
semester, he began his teaching tenure in the fall
of 2000 at Stratford as a sophomore English teacher,
assistant football coach, and assistant basketball
coach. Mr. Reed worked closely with the head coaches
of both sports while watching the football team
become more and more competitive each year, and the
basketball team win two district titles, one region
title, and a trip to the state tournament.
In the fall of 2003, Mr. Reed
was named as the boys’ head basketball coach at John
Overton High School. While at Overton, Mr. Reed
coached his basketball teams to three region
appearances, coached the boys’ track team as the
head coach, and was an assistant coach with the
football team. Mr. Reed spent six wonderful years at
Overton before being named the new boys’ head
basketball coach at Cane Ridge High School. At Cane
Ridge, Mr. Reed will teach English and also be an
assistant coach on the football team.
